A little about us, Sampedro
Founded in 1921, Sampedro is a leading international textile company and one of the few vertically integrated companies in Portugal, encompassing all stages of the production process, from yarn to the final product.
It was the year 1921 when university professor Dr. Álvaro Machado, his brother-in-law Luís Eugénio D' Oliveira Braga (representing the firm “Fonseca, Braga & Cia Lda”), and José Ribeiro Machado, important merchants from the city of Porto, decided to dedicate themselves to the textile industry, which, at that time, was already boosting the Guimarães region. This management remained in place during the company's establishment and building construction, and in 1923, effective management passed to Dr. Paulo Alves in the Porto office and to Mr. Eduardo Rodrigues Machado at the headquarters in Lordelo. Their culture of demanding quality, but also of some idealism and romanticism, would definitively forge the values and identity of the Sampedro brand.
To this day, this heritage remains strongly rooted in the company's culture, which began its activity as a manufacturer of linen fabrics, essentially dedicated, at the time, to the production of sheets and towels. Only later would Sampedro expand its offerings to include cotton, polyester/cotton, and terry cloth products.

As a vertically integrated company, Sampedro internally controls all stages of the production process, eliminating dependence on third parties and guaranteeing the highest quality. With over a century of accumulated know-how , we master the entire chain, from the creativity of our Design Office to the technical precision of Weaving, Dyeing and Finishing, where we apply exclusive formulas to achieve the perfect feel in our fabrics. Every product undergoes three rigorous quality inspection phases before final production, allowing us to ensure the excellence of the item and an on-time delivery rate exceeding 89%.
Mission
Our mission is to move towards a greener future, combining the tradition of textile excellence with the urgency of environmental sustainability. We are deeply committed to reducing our ecological footprint, which is why 51% of our production already uses sustainable fibers such as organic cotton, linen, and hemp. With significant investments in clean energy, such as our biomass plant, we have made a strategic commitment to reducing our carbon footprint, innovating without compromising quality.
